My Dells STP Experience
Aug 28, 2014
(on the right) Every summer for the past four years, Navigators has hosted a servant training program in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, for fifty college students from college campuses around the midwest. I was fortunate enough to be a part of this past summer’s Dell’s STP. God showed me his faithfulness in my fundraising and my job. Part of every STP experience is being given a full time job, evangelism training and experience, living with a team all summer, studying the bible and meeting as a whole group a few times a week to grow closer to the Lord. I am thankful for the job that I had and all that it entailed.
The job was a mixed bag of landscaping, equipment operating, and grounds keeping for property owner. I found the work challenging on a number of levels. At times the equipment we used was undependable, sometimes key details for the job were missing, communication was at times confusing, and some of the interpersonal relationships in the company were strained. I enjoyed the physical labor but was also exhausted by it as well. Overall, this job proved to be the most stretching and growing experience because of the all the challenges that it encompassed.
Perseverance was key this summer as some as some of these challenge at times felt overwhelming. I realized after the summer, that I left with more new experiences than when it began. Along with new experiences comes new wisdom in walking with Christ. A couple of verses that I kept in mind throughout the summer were Colossians 3:17, 23 and Colossians 3:1-2. Seeking and setting my mind on things above where Christ is seated and to work unto the Lord. Keeping my eyes on Him really helped me endure and gave me what I needed to grow.
It was a summer that I won’t forget!
